Sandstone Cliff

Once again, I have fallen behind.  Quick update on my life.
  •  I have a full week-and-a-half of internship under my belt. I like it a lot. It has been a taste of the real life expectations of a Speech-Language Pathologist. Basically the documentation is a thousand times easier to the point where it is almost non-existent (a welcome change.)
  • I received two job offers last week (!?!?!) and I have been on top of the world ever since.
  • Peter is coming to visit in exactly one week. If it is possible for a person to die of excitement then I might not even make to next Saturday.
  • I have been painting the last three weekends in a row. First my room, then my bathroom, and finally (today) Ali and I conquered the stairwells (ridiculously high ceilings,) the upstairs living area, and the downstairs bathroom-all in a one-day,10.5-hour marathon. The house looks completely different than it did three weeks ago. Other news, I may not be able to get out of bed tomorrow morning as once again, painting has tried to morph me into a contortionist.
On that note, I owe you some pictures. Here are pictures of my bedroom and bathroom. I decided to paint both rooms Sandstone Cliff, perhaps better known as light green.

New and Improved!

Here are the fabulous before-and-afters, as promised. Again, I had practically no part in this (other than picking out paint,) it was all due to the talent and motivation of my lovely cousin/roommate Ali.
Note: The color shows up a lot whiter in the photos than in real-life, it really is more of a beige.

Yep, I came home and downstairs the crayola-explosion walls were all beigified. Not to mention the coffee table my dad liberated from the ditch circa 1992 was sanded down (it used to have "Brett" carved in it) and stained, there were new-to-us couches, two new rugs and a new TV stand. I am really digging the change.

What do you guys think?

Things you missed...

Hello friends,

Once again, things are happening faster than I am. To catch you up, in the last three weeks I..
  • Finished my last academic term of grad school
  • Turned the apartment keys over to Girl #2 and her boyfriend
  • Bummed around in Germany for a week
  • Came home to a new-and-improved beigified downstairs living space (god bless you cousin/roommate Ali)
  • Had my first job interview (nailed it)
  • Scheduled my second job interview
  • Started my internship
Jet-lag got me up at 4:45am this morning and jet-lag has been getting me down since about 2pm, so I am going to keep this brief.
Here is a spattering of pictures from my trip to Germany (and a tiny bit of Amsterdam.)

Stay tuned, tomorrow I am planning on posting blow-your-mind before-and-after pictures of the downstairs of my new place. Don't even pretend you don't want to see them, after two days this post was launched to my third most popular slot . Busted, either you guys really like home decorating, or you are stalking me and want to use the exterior shot to triangulate my position (I got a little creeped out writing that.)

Okay, this jet-lagged young lady is calling it a day.

Mi Casa

Moving day=success.

On Saturday 98% of my possessions made the 275 mile trek from Bham to Hillsboro without incident, largely due to my parents and my lovely friends (thank you!!).  I am convinced that I know the nicest  people on the planet. Moving day started at 6 am and by 9pm my whole house was unpacked and ready to live in.

Here are some pictures of my new digs.

Okay, that was your abbreviated tour. I will post more when we have finished furnishing and painting the house.

Also, I feel like you should know that the paint is a lot more abrasive-looking in person.

Gangster

Yesterday I saw my last client in the clinic. Ever.
I also went to my last class at WWU. Ever.

Damn it feels good to be a gangster

Things are happening!

After dragging myself through the last five quarters of grad school and the first half of this one, time has started passing at a rate that is both thrilling and terrifying. Of course, my incredible weekend with Peter went by in an eyeblink, but since then my days have yet to return to their normal weekday rate. At this point, I don't think they are going to. There is way too much going on in my life.

Tomorrow, I am driving south with as many earthly possessions as I can cram into the focus and moving them into my new house.

Saturday, I am trying on bridesmaids dresses with Stacey and celebrating my mom's birthday.

AND THEN on Sunday, [wait for it] I am driving up to SeaTac to pick up Peter again (!?!?!?!) and I get to stay with him for two nights, drive up to Bham for a day and a half of clients and class, drive back down and spend three more nights with him.

Since I am bailing on some stuff next week (with permission of course) it means I only have 6 more school days left this quarter. Also, I have no full weekends left in the ham before I make the final push south on March 12.

See what I mean people? Things are happening!!!!

A really good weekend.

Peter came to visit over the long weekend and it was amazing. We walked along Lake Padden, strolled the boulevard and hiked oyster dome. We also ate a bunch of food and just generally basked in each others company.

It was magical.
